Prince Khaled bin Alwaleed joined fellow green technology investors during the Seattle assembly

Alwaleed Philanthropies (AP) joined global stakeholders at the annual Breakthrough Energy Ventures (BEV) two-day conference that served as a showcase for its portfolio companies focused on solutions that will help the world reach net-zero.

HRH Prince Khaled bin Alwaleed bin Talal Al Saud, member of the AP Board of Directors, represented AP at the conference, and also serves as AP’s liaison to various other Gates entities including Giving Pledge and the Gates Foundation.

BEV hosted more than 700 guests for the assembly in Seattle, Washington, with some of the world’s most influential companies represented alongside renowned investors, sector stakeholders, relevant government officials, and other targeted interest groups.

Staged at the Bell Harbor International Conference Center October 17-19, 2022, the knowledge exchange platform had a strong roster of speakers addressing various topics around private and public sector concerns and potential avenues and paths for reaching net-zero.

Some of the key speakers included John Kerry, the U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, and Dilhan Pillay CEO of Temasek. Also in attendance were Jennifer Granholm, U.S. Secretary of Energy, and John Podesta, Senior Advisor to President Joe Biden for Clean Energy Innovation and Implementation.

For the opening plenary session, Bill Gates was joined on stage by BEV Managing Director Rodi Guidero. Through investment vehicles, philanthropic programs, policy advocacy, and other activities, BEV is committed to scaling the technologies the world needs to reach net-zero emissions by 2050.
